Ruined Kingdom Page 18

“My personal interest is in your surgical expertise regarding the Razorbacks. It is quite impressive, you being the first doctor brave enough to have attempted surgery involving the venom sacs.” Reaching out, he squeezed her shoulder. It sent a repulsive shiver up her neck. Then he guided her up the stairs with a hand in the middle of her back. It felt like she had a handprint of slime dripping down her spine. She ached to tell him to get his hand off her but decided to stay quiet.

This scumbag thinks I'm stupid. The Razorbacks have always been off limits because of their venom. I'd bet my reputation that he’s only seeking a way to neutralize them so he can open up a whole new research avenue. Now I get why Sam left here. He wouldn’t have wanted to work with these animals either. Sam was an excellent physician with a specialty in toxicology. He had also been one of her best friends. He would never have allowed his research on Razorback venom to fall into the hands of the Kirillian doctors.

Harlan just wanted to do what she’d agreed to and get released from here. She was sick with worry about her family and wanted to find them. But now there was something else to be concerned about and that was Strom. He was polite, cool, and very well educated. He was also a merciless, cunning butcher that felt the ends always justified the means.

Nineveh has no idea what she has done letting these people in here.
